A quarter-century of records.
Two mandates that used to conflict.

A top-tier GCC bank needed to archive 25 years of data spread across 150 enterprise systems — RDBMS databases, Excel files, flat files, video, and audio — as older platforms were consolidated and retired. The data could not simply be moved to cold storage: regulators expect it audit-ready, and the business expects any record retrievable on demand.

Traditional archival forces a choice — store data cheaply and wait days to retrieve it, or keep it live at unsustainable cost. At 6 petabytes across 150 systems, neither option worked. The bank needed long-term, compliant preservation and instant retrieval — for the first time, both at once.
Scale
25 years of data, 6 PB, 150 enterprise systems — spanning structured records, documents, and rich media. No single archival solution had handled that breadth without forcing trade-offs between cost and accessibility.
Compliance
Every record kept audit-ready, with a full trail regulators and auditors can inspect on demand. Cold storage satisfies retention. It does not satisfy an examiner who wants 7 years of records in 48 hours.
Retrieval
Any account, transaction, or customer history findable in seconds, not the days legacy archives demand — by compliance, operations, and customer care teams alike, without IT dependency or SQL expertise.

99.998%†
Records validated
on ingestion
† Record-validation / checksum figure — see methodology note.

Nothing archived is
left unverified.

Every record is checksum-validated on ingestion against its source. In this deployment, that validation ran across millions of records with no silent loss — each record preserved with full fidelity, provable against its original.

† Methodology note: 12,449,731 of 12,450,000 records validated in this deployment. Syneca’s ingestion-time validation identified 269 records with pre-existing source corruption — flagged and reported to the client rather than silently archived. This is a data-integrity / checksum figure — it measures whether every ingested record was validated against its source without loss. It is a separate measure from the >95% retrieval time reduction figure above.

No migration.
The whole estate, archived in place.

No migration project, no rip-and-replace. Syneca connected to the bank’s existing systems and archived what they produced — structured records, documents, and rich media alike — without disrupting live operations.

01
Connect
Plugged into 150 systems.
Zero disruption to live operations.

Syneca’s connectors plugged into the bank’s enterprise systems and pulled 25 years of data across 150 sources — RDBMS, Excel, flat files, video, and audio. Zero-impact extraction: archival ran in parallel with live operations, touching nothing the business depended on.

02
Archive
Compressed, validated,
and preserved for the long term.

Data compressed by up to 90%* and preserved in an OAIS-aligned (ISO 14721:2025) format. Every record checksum-validated on ingestion against its source — 99.998% of records validated without silent loss. The archive is legally defensible, long-term.

*Compression ratio varies by data type; structured data typically compresses higher than unstructured.

03
Ask
Any record, in plain English.
Found in seconds.

SIA, Syneca’s natural-language retrieval interface, lets any authorised user find any record without SQL, IT tickets, or manual exports. Records are found in seconds. The compliance team queries 25 years of history the moment the examiner asks — no delay, no batch export.

04
Comply
Audit-ready, always.
Not activated before the examination.

Immutable audit trails on every record access event, automated retention policy enforcement, and evidence packages generated on demand. Compliance isn’t a preparation exercise — it runs continuously, from the moment the first record is ingested. When the examiner arrives, the bank is already ready.
